Postdoctoral Opportunities-

Career Opportunity: Postdoctoral Researcher

The Ranjan Lab at the University of Minnesota seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to lead cutting-edge research on studying the molecular interactions of fungal diseases affecting potatoes, with a focus on identifying key molecular mechanisms and the metabolites of Verticillium wilt and potato interaction, as well as characterizing microbial biocontrol agents. The successful candidate will employ transcriptomic and metabolomic profiling to compare resistant and susceptible potato varieties during pathogen challenges. Additionally, the candidate will study biosynthetic gene clusters responsible for antimicrobial compounds in biocontrol microbes—knowledge of plant disease resistance mechanisms and sustainable biocontrol strategies.

Other post-doctoral opportunities (Only for US citizens and Permanent residents) -

If you’re interested in working with us on a project related to your interests and are willing to write a project together for post-doctoral fellowships (NIFA and NSF), feel free to email Dr. Ashish Ranjan ([email protected]), and he would be happy to help develop project ideas. To initiate the process, please include a CV and two manuscripts (pre-prints are fine) in your email. When preparing your application, focus on developing a research plan that aligns with Dr. Ranjan's interests in plant-microbe interactions (pathogenic and beneficial, focusing on soybean, potato, tomato, or model plants as hosts) studies while also addressing the specific goals of the fellowship program you're targeting. Be sure to submit your application well before the deadline to avoid any technical issues.

Undergraduate Researcher Position-

We regularly hire undergraduates as research assistants in the field and greenhouse. Interested in summer opportunities? We are looking for undergrad workers to help out in the field, greenhouse, and lab. Part- and full-time opportunities are available. Please contact Dr. Ashish Ranjan ([email protected]) if you’re interested.

We also love to hire students through the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) and other undergraduate fellowship programs, including Undergraduate Research Scholarship (URS). If you’d like to develop a project related to crop pathogens and beneficial microbes, please introduce yourself and your research interests to Dr. Ashish Ranjan. We can help you develop your own research project!
